Poppy's (Stephen and Trish Popperwell's newly built alpine home) is nestled into the privacy of 2 acres of native Kanuka bush, situated in a sunny, elevated position on the slopes of Mt Iron where it enjoys uninterrupted 180 degree panoramic views of the mountains and beautiful Lake Wanaka. The house is spacious and features extensive use of NZ native timbers which gives it a charming, timeless, alpine character. We offer a private, fully self-contained, 2 bedroom apartment with your own separate entrance - ideal for a couple, or two couples travelling together, or a family with two children. Totally private and peaceful, Poppy's is just four minutes drive from the town centre and the wealth of activities Wanaka has to offer are easily accessible. Stephen and Trish are passionate and knowledgeable about the Wanaka region. Trish is a tour guide for Wanaka Sightseeing so with her local knowledge, who better to ensure that you get the very best out of your time in Wanaka. She has a wealth of information about the local sight-seeing possibilities and can advise about the best walks, ski runs, restaurants, vineyards - whatever your interests are, we can help. We are happy to provide transport to town and can drop you off and pick you up from local restaurants so that you can fully enjoy Central Otago's fantastic wines! Guests are welcome to join us and our cats, Rocket and Rosie, for a hearty, seasonal, alpine breakfast to set you up for your day enjoying this wonderful area, or we can provide you with a variety of provisions to prepare your own. Dinner, a delicious meal featuring fine NZ produce, can also be offered by prior arrangement. Enjoy this in summer, under the stars on our spacious deck or in winter by a roaring open fire. |
